About Us - Sutter Buttes Canine Rescue
OUR WISH:
Sutter Buttes Canine Rescue has, as a priority wish, began the implementation of an "ANGEL FUND". This fund will provide for veterinary expenses such as spays and neuters, vaccinations, heartworm testing and worming along with any medical treatment animals may require to insure a healthy adoption. Average cost associated for these services is $150 per rescue. All proceeds from this year's tournament will be directed toward the establishment of this fund.
OUR MISSION:
Placing unwanted animals in loving homes. SBCR was founded to maintain a shelter that provides a safe environment for homeless and abandoned dogs; to spay, neuter, vaccinate and provide medical attention needed while in rescue and to assist in placing these dogs in safe, loving permanent homes with responsible pet owners.
OUR HISTORY:
Founded by Yvonne Moore in 1998, SBCR has placed over 4,300 animals in homes to date. Some are abandoned, others are surrendered and others are rescued from the local animal control services. All animals remain in the shelter until they are placed in loving homes through an adoption process; we are a "NO KILL" shelter. SBCR is a non-profit organization run by volunteers and does not receive any government funding relying solely on community support.
SBCR realizes its mission through a variety of programs designed to help place animals in need through a variety of programs such as:
- Providing a kennel able to house 18 to 20 dogs and unlimited puppies and incurring all costs associated with pre-adoption expenses.
- Educating the public on the importance of vaccinating and neutering their pets.
- Networking with other shelters to help place adoptable dogs.
- Holding community events such as local adoption sites and vaccination clinics.
- Operating a thrift store with all proceeds directly benefiting rescued dogs.
